Ex student receives Life Saving Medal of the Order of St John

Congratulations to Liam Oldfield (12E) and his Dad who were recently bestowed the Life Saving Medal of the Order of St John at the Priory Church of the Order of St John, Clerkenwell.  Liam and his Dad saved the life of an American tourist in August 2013.  Jane Lukic’s car careered off a mountain pass in Cumbria plunging 500 feet.  Liam was out climbing with his Dad at the time when they saw the car leave the road.  The pair alerted the emergency services and rushed to help the driver and administered first aid. Principal Peter Middleton said: "In saving the life of this complete stranger, Liam Oldfield demonstrated outstanding attributes of leadership, courage, and selfless service which were beyond his years."

Liam left Welbeck in 2014 and is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at University and will attend Royal Military Academy Sandhurst once he has graduated.  We congratulate Liam and his Dad on their recent award.
